Importance of training and development for college students

IMPORTANCE OF SOFT SKILLS TRAINING TO COLLEGE STUDENTS

At the time of admission, students and parents ask the college management a question. That is do you have campus placement facility in your college? If the answer is positive they are highly satisfied, but if the answer is negative, they vanish from the admission spot. Nowadays due to advancements & media people are well informed. They demand more from the college.  They are aware of all the proceedings in college. They want their daughter/son to be well trained and groomed in all aspects.
Before two decades, there were only few branded colleges conducting training and placement for students. But now it becomes mandatory for all the institutes to concentrate on training and development. There were times when there was only domain departments alone functioning in colleges. Training and placement was seen as a co-curricular activity. But these days, there was more emphasis given to training and developing students. Here occurs a change. Change is a silent growth.
The students who get trained from day one of college are more exposed to industrial concepts. They become more competitive and advanced. The result of training is nonstop learning. Learning is a process that cannot be stopped. Good training also teaches the candidates to unlearn many things in life as well as in workplace.
During the training period students are trained to suit various needs and wants of workplace. Moreover during their project internship they get industrial exposure and they come across various processes that are part of organization. The text books what they study and the practical’s what they do may be more than enough to introduce them to their domain. But apart from qualification and knowledge certain skill sets and attitude are essential for students.
Good trainer brings out the hidden talents, remove stage fear, improve vocabulary and communication skills etc. thus training may convert an ordinary fellow to an expert in a limited period.
